Bringing a taste of Tokyo to the world, through design that celebrates local craft
About the project
Pokka Sapporo launched a seasonal green tea for foreign visitors during the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, using locally grown Tokyo tea leaves. To highlight its limited availability and Tokyo origin, we designed the packaging with bold English typography paired with a minimal Japanese pattern inspired by tea field layouts. The clean, graphic look was made to stand out in vending machines and appeal to tourists, while staying rooted in Japanese aesthetics.
Result
The product stood out in vending machines and social feeds alike. Its design clearly communicated its Tokyo-local appeal, while its minimal yet vivid packaging invited curiosity from international and domestic audiences.
