A sustainable, visually immersive picnic mat for Blue Bottle Japan – turning coffee time into a brand moment.
About the project
Blue Bottle Japan approached us with a request to develop a sustainable, SDG-aligned promotional item for their café community. At the time, reusable and eco-conscious products were trending in Japan. Inspired by their iconic paper cup, we proposed a picnic mat made from durable, water-resistant paper – subtly masking the cup’s silhouette within a classic stripe design. The result is a picnic mat that not only reflects the brand’s identity but also invites people to enjoy their coffee literally “on” Blue Bottle. It was a simple yet creative way to extend the in-store experience into the outdoors.
Result
The mat was offered as a seasonal item, well-received by customers for both its functionality and playful, brand-connected design. It reinforced Blue Bottle’s identity as a thoughtful and community-driven brand, while contributing to sustainable lifestyle habits.
